Week 5: Midterm Progress
In terms of gameplay I've had to make a few changes. I have decided to completely scrap the wind mechanic because it didn't work very well and didn't add much to the game other than frustration due to the randomness. I've doubled down on the ship balance mechanic instead, where it now wobbles and adds a random amount to the ship's rotation on a set timer, but never enough to outright kill you in one go, no matter what position you're at. I'm not sure how I feel about the extra part where you board the ship. How much it really adds to the game is questionable. I've also added a two minute timer that ticks down when you begin. This is the lose condition for the game. I haven't yet decided on whether or not I'll have time for obstacles because those also force me to make more models. Modeling is going fine for now, I'll have to see how substance painter works before I decide just how much detail I can put into the ship.
